Parking Etiquette in the ‘Stop & Drop’ Zone

Posted : 03-Feb-2017

As excitement builds in anticipation for the imminent return to school we are keen to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible, for parents and students alike.

Families new to Woodcroft may not be aware of the parking restrictions in the Junior School car park during the morning drop off and the afternoon pick up.

The College operates a pick-up and drop-off lane that circumvents the long stay car park. During the hours of 8:00 am to 9:00 am and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, this zone operates for the drop off or collection of students only. At these times we would ask that:
- Vehicles do not stand in this zone for more than 2 minutes;
- Drivers must not leave their vehicles unattended in this zone;
- If your child is not waiting when you arrive to collect them, drive off and leave the zone free for parents whose child is waiting. The teacher on duty is there to supervise the safe collection of all children.
- Drivers do not use the long stay car park as a pick–up zone, encouraging their children to cross lines of moving traffic in the process. You are only putting their safety at risk.

The above diagram of the car park has been reproduced which identifies the recommended flow of traffic.

Traffic monitors will be on duty next week to ensure that parents do not leave their vehicles unattended in the ‘stop and drop’ zone.

Please do not be offended if you are asked to move your vehicle on.

The intention is to ensure that traffic moves swiftly, for the benefit of all, and avoids congestion on Bains Road.

With limited parking available, parents who intend to accompany their children to their classrooms on the first day of school should plan their journey without expectation that they will be able to park in the College car park.
