Holiday Training

For my holiday break, I did lots of training to make sure that I am ready for a Trampolining competition I have late in February.

For trampolining we do something called an assessment, where we get assessed on our flexibility, strength, reaction and speed. It is like what we do every semester but has a few more exercises.

We have an upcoming trial for Trampolining, so it’s really important that I am ready because I have to get a high enough score to be able to go to Nationals on the Gold Coast this year. Normally we would go to Melbourne, but since they have had such a bad time with Coronavirus, they have decided to move it from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.

During this holiday break I did nine trainings a week (including gymnastics). Some of my achievements for this years holiday break was to learn a couple of new skills and to be ready to move up a level.

Last year was supposed to be my first year of competing level 6, but since we had no competitions to compete in, I haven’t qualified as a level 6. I like to make sure that I can compete my level before I move up.

Just before Christmas we had a break up for trampolining. Every athlete had to say what they achieved and how they coped with Coronavirus effecting us. After we answered those questions, our coach gave us some feedback on some good points and bad points that we needed to work on. My coach told me that I am someone that they can count on for a win for our club, and that I am brave.

At Gymnastics I have learnt a lot of new skills for this years competitions. For both sports we have been practicing our routines every training to make sure we are ready to compete.

Both sports made us come back super early because we have competitions early in the year, as Trampolining has one late February/early March and Gymnastics has a competition that gives us more time to practice until the middle of March. My coaches have been very good but strict about our training and making sure that we are doing our strength right and our technique and execution is perfect.
