National Reconciliation Week

2 June 2023

This week we have hosted a range of activities for our students, in recognition of National Reconciliation Week.

Students took part in Indigenous sports, learnt how to throw a boomerang and a spear, made grass skirts and created art sculptures. Our ELC and Junior School students heard dreamtime stories and created artworks about the story’s main characters. There were presentations about Aboriginal Skies and what reconciliation means. Billie Cornthwaite ran a bush tucker workshop and Aunty Daphne Rickett ran an Acknowledgement of Country painting workshop with our Senior School students.

It was a remarkable week, where students demonstrated their generous spirit, made real connections to Country, inspired confidence in each other and made a commitment to keep growing by being a voice for generations.

Thank you to our Reconciliation Coordinator, Bec Cullen, and our Head of Humanities, Matt Ellis, for organising such an enriching week for our students and our staff.
