Inclusive education is about everyone learning and participating in the classroom, making progress in their learning, and developing a sense of belonging at school and in the classroom. All students, without exception, have the right to be included in general education settings, with reasonable adjustments ensuring genuine and full participation of all children and young people. All students are entitled to rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning opportunities drawn from the curriculum and aligned with their individual learning needs, strengths, interests, and goals.
Why are we working towards Inclusive Education?

There is substantial research over the past six decades that demonstrates that inclusive education results in a higher quality of education, and increased educational outcomes for all students, not just those with diverse learning needs. Similarly, research has demonstrated no negative educational outcomes for students in inclusive settings.
There are many benefits of inclusive education for those who do not experience disability, as well as for those who do. These benefits include increased educational, social and behavioural outcomes and increased quality of teacher engagement. Students with disability thrive in inclusive settings compared to specialist settings, as do the rest of the class, which is why we are continuing to move towards being an inclusive education setting at Woodcroft.

Inclusive Education Statement
We are proud to be an inclusive school. Inclusive education is about everyone learning, participating, progressing and developing a sense of belonging at school, and in the classroom environment. We know that all students have the right to learn, however we recognise that students are unique, and that some require additional support for them to do their best.
We aim to support all students, taking into account the diverse learning needs they might have, to ensure their individual learning needs are met. That is why we work hard to understand each and every Woodcroft College student. We truly believe that all students can succeed in a school environment underpinned by inclusive education.
Our decisions are guided by the four pillars of inclusion:
Presence
All students are present in the classroom, not just physically, but they are provided with the necessary supports and guidance to access the curriculum and classroom activities.
Participation
All students are actively supported to participate in a respectful and meaningful way in all classroom activities.
Progress
All students have the right to learn and make reasonable progress in their learning, regardless of their starting point, education needs, or level of understanding.
Belonging
All teachers must help students develop a sense of belonging and social and emotional connection to the classroom environment.
