In Year 11 there is a strong emphasis on independence, communication and the transition to a post school environment.

This is an important year for students to explore a wider range of subjects in line with their interests and strengths, and to challenge themselves academically. Students will be gaining a better understanding of their preferred pathway for Year 12 and beyond.

Students are supported by the same Head of Year throughout Year 11 and Year 12 as we understand the importance of strong and stable relationships with key academic and support staff over this period.

All students complete compulsory Stage 1 SACE subjects for Literacy and Numeracy and can start their Stage 2 Research Project.

With English and Mathematics as the two core subjects, students will have multiple subject choices across a range of key learning areas:

  • Design, Technology and Engineering
  • Digital Technologies
  • Health and Personal Development
  • Humanities
  • Languages
  • Music
  • Outdoor Education
  • Physical Education
  • Sciences
  • Visual Arts
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Year 11 students will also have one RAVE lesson each week.

Further learning and growth opportunities occur outside the classroom through leadership responsibilities, a broad range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, an extensive sports program and performing art opportunities.

Study Support

Year 11 and Year 12 students are offered study support through Focused Study lessons each week and have access to teachers outside the classroom to improve understanding of course work.

Pastoral Care Program

Student wellbeing is a key focus at Woodcroft College along with development of strong character and values based behaviour. Along with dedicated pastoral care lessons, personal counselling is available.

Students will have three lessons each week allocated to the Pastoral Care Program and RAVE.

Students will participate in Worship and Year Level assemblies along with continuing a structured Personal Development Program.

The Head of Year 11, Tutors and guest presenters will deliver a program to support the personal development and age specific needs of students.

The program covers topics such as:

  • Career Counselling
  • Study Skills
  • Learning Dynamics
  • Developmental Psychology
  • Relationships
  • Resilience
  • Gratitude and Mindfulness
